Christmas Is Coming

Every year we start getting ready for our Christmas Wish Program around this time.  For those of you familiar with the program, most of our operation will be business as usual, however, we do have a few changes.

Here’s the latest information about our 2025 Christmas Holiday Wish Program:

Once again

As we have for the past 34 years, Lodi Adopt-A-Child (LAAC) will collect and distribute gifts to children from low-income families in Lodi.  We will accept applications from eligible families, collect wish lists from their children and recording these on Angel Cards.  Sponsors will purchase gifts for those children themselves, or donate funds for us to purchase them.  The gifts will then be collected, wrapped and distributed to the children at our annual party on Saturday, December 13th.

What’s new in 2025?

  • This year we will include children up 14 years old (instead of 13)!

  • We’re working to streamline the application process for families applying for the program.  Advance registration with CPFSJ will help reduce wait times for everyone.

  • Online volunteering.  We are implementing a new volunteer management system so that volunteers can register online.  You'll be able to see what help we'll need and when.  You can also sign up to help online.

Family & Children Applications

The Schedule for Families and Children

  • Applications available: October 1

  • Accepting family/child applications:  Starting October 15

We are working to speed up the application process.  Following these directions will help reduce wait times.  Even if you participated in our Christmas program last year, you must reapply.

  1. Register your family with the Community Partnership for Families of San Joaquin (CPFSJ)

  2. Pick up a Christmas Wish application – starting October 1st.

  3. Complete the Christmas Wish Program application and bring it to the office during the hours listed below.

Registering your family with the Community Partnership for Families of San Joaquin (CPFSJ) in advance will save you time when submitting your application.  If you have a CPFSJ Family ID #, then you’re already registered and don’t need to register again.  If you’re not already registered, you can register NOW, during business hours at 100 E. Pine St.

Christmas Wish application forms will be available after October 1 at the CPFSJ office.

Applications for the LAAC Christmas Wish program can be submitted:

  • Thursday, October 16, 10am-1pm

or

  • Saturday, October 18, 10am-1pm

Please contact CPFSJ at 209-269-8262 if you are unable to apply at those times.

Sponsors, Volunteers and Donors

The Schedule for Sponsors, Volunteers and Donors

  • Donations:  Gratefully accepted Now.

  • Volunteer registration: Open Now!

  • Volunteer sign-up to help:  Starting in October.

  • Registered volunteers will be notified as we post jobs that we need help with, in October, November and December.

  • Angel Cards available:  Starting November 10

  • Gifts must be returned by: December 7

  • Christmas gift party:  December 13th

We rely on the community's help to make our Christmas Wish Program a success each year.  There are multiple ways you can contribute:

  • Angel Cards

Starting November 10th, we will have Angel Cards with a child's name and wish list.  Take one, or more, cards and purchase clothes and toys for the child.  Then return them to us, by December 7th

  • Volunteering – It Takes a Village…

Register to help distribute Angel Cards, receive gifts, pack and wrap them, shop for them, assemble bicycles, and do other tasks.  Starting in October and November, we will post the jobs that need to be done and when.  Sign up online, or contact us by email at volunteer@lodiadoptachild.org or by phone at 209-333-1056.

  • Donate

You can donate online now or drop off cash or checks at our office after November 10.  Your donations will allow us to purchase gifts.  Since none of our staff or volunteers are paid, all of the funds we receive go directly to supporting our programs that assist children in need.

Donations from Clothing or Toy Drives

We accept new or unused clothes and toys appropriate for children ages 14 and under.   Bicycles are most needed. Please note, however, that we do not accept used items.  We gratefully accept any donated items, preferably between November 10 and December 1.  The earlier, the better.   Contact us at 209-333-1056 to make arrangements.

Temporary Warehouse Space Needed

November-December

We need warehouse space, in or near Lodi, to assemble and store bicycles for our Christmas Wish Program, from mid-November to mid-December. Last year we provide clothes and toys for over 850 children from low-income families in Lodi, including 250 bicycles.

If you have a space, or know someone who does, please contact us at 209-333-1056 or lodiadoptachild@gmail.com.
